I totally understand the concept of removing obsolete backups from RMAN; however, I noticed that the accompanying archived logs are not removed. How do you remove these? Nothing I've tried so far has worked.

Make the backupsets "unavailable" to RMAN.
Phyiscally remove those backupsets.
