Hi, all:
My old PC is no longer operational. The Oracle Database I had in it was 11g. I was able to recover these files:
CONTROL.DBF
SYSAUX.DBF
SYSTEM.DBF
TEMP.DBF
UNDOTBS1.DBF
USERS.DBF
My new PC operates on Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit.
My questions are:
1) Can I recover the above files in a new 12c installation using ORADIM?
2) Would you recommend 12c over 11gR2? I use this database for small test work; mainly testing procedures against small tables. I don't need a memory hog. I'd prefer to recover the data if possible, but if 12c is much more efficient than 11gR2, I don't mind recreating everything. On the other hand, if 11gR2 requires less resources, I'll stick with that.
Thank you.

I don't know, but I'd be surprised if Oracle brought out a 32-bit version of 12c. How many people are still using 32-bit Windows for hosting Oracle databases?

If you are talking about 11g R2, then I, and all my colleagues at home in their personal laptops still use 32-bit Windows.

If you are talking about 11g R2, then I, and all my colleagues at home in their personal laptops still use 32-bit Windows. Many people are in this situation: they have laptops with 64bit CPUs (every Intel or AMD chip has been 64bit since, what, 2006 perhaps?) but they have 32bit Windows because that was what the OEMs distributed until very recently. The answer is to install Linux instead. Or if you must have Windows and don't want to pay for a 64bit Windows licence, enable the VTx and run 64bit Linux in a VirtualBox. That is what I've been doing on my old Vista laptop since I was given it six years ago.
