Hi,

Can we gather statistics for schema at any working time or is there any maintenance time for?

Gathering statistics consume resources, invalid current cursors, and may lead to changes in execution plans.

Based on your answer , i plan to gather statistics during maintenance window.

But what is maintenance window.Could you give more details on it so that it will be be helpful
for me to decide whether to run it during that time or not.

A maintenance window is a period when the applications don't work and you are free to use the database as you want.

Thanks for the definitions.

So i believe maintenance window is the best time to gather schema stats in database .So that there wont be any mislead in execution plans and resources consumption etc..
