Dear all,
I have clients that work using ADSL service to connect to DB. Sometimes connection is dropped for short time (less than 1 minute). Is there any way for my clients to continue with work without logging in again?

Thanks in advance.

Aleksa

If you have no connection to the DB how can you access the data?

Hi Michel,
thank you for quick response. I will try to describe my problem little more. I have an old application (.net 2.0, windows forms, CS). My users work with application over shared ADSL line. Occasionally, ADSL line is disconnected (20 sec for example) and connected again (thanks to our ADSL operator). All users are disconnected and they need to close applications, start applications and log-in again. You can understand that this is annoying and reason to complain. I'm asking that if there is a solution to overcome this? Is there any oracle parameter that can be set to hold user sessions during disconnection time? This is not time-critical system and users can wait for connection to restore.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Thank you in advance,
Alex.

No there is no such thing otherwise it would be possible to hack your session.
But you can code in your application that if it detects a deconnection then it automatically and transparently reconnects to the database.
