Hi...

We have a Oracle 10g ASM database running on Solaris 10. When we are assigning LUNS from storage to ASM, we are changing permission to those LUNS(each & every slice) thru chown oracle:dba. I feel it is not an optimum way & there is a different way of assigning LUNS to ASM. Guys I am looking for the quicker & optimum way.

Thanks in advance...

I am doing a manual permission change for every LUN. I feel there should be some other quicker way for oracle to recognize the LUN.

Permissions MUST be granted to Oracle anyway.
In addition, use asm_diskstring parameter.

You probably have the cluster daemons starting at run level 3, so The quickest fix mught be to put a script in /etc/rc3.d that sets the permissions the way you want them before the daemons start.
