Dear sir/madam,
I am now using Oracle 10g and http server. I use Perl as the development tools.
Currently, we have installed a F5 load balancer (F5 Big-IP Local Traffic Manager 3400), two web servers (installed with Oracle Http server) and two db server (10g RAC).
We are now planning to upgrade our servers and the Oracle database. We plan to upgrade the DB to 11g (2 DB servers) and use the web tier (http server).
But we are not certain whether it is required to keep the F5 (or upgrade F5). In my understanding, the F5 is useful for load balancing. In 11g, if we have 2 web servers (installed with Oracle Http server), can we use Microsoft clustering service to make them as resilience/load balancing so that we can get rid of the F5? ( I am new to the Oracle DB and the system is set up several years ago, there is no expertise here to know the settings of the F5)
And in 10g, the Http server is included in the Companion CD. In 11g, it is in the Web tier CD. So I need to buy license for the Oracle web tier so as to get http server license in 11g. Am I correct ?
