In order to improve performance of backups and file restoration using RMAN, which area of memory should be utilized?

RMAN is a standalone executable. Your performance of backup and restore will depend on the transfer rate of data to and from the tape.

Not agree at all. For example, when restoring backups, RMAN do select's from internal tables, and, in my case, tables RLH with ton of millons of rows regarding archived redo log is so big that restoring and recovering backup get pretty long time!.
Of course rman is a standalone excutable, but, it registers and selects data fomr db, so, you will have to do some maintenace and tuning.
Regards.
