No idea.

Why do you do that, anyway? I mean, what is the purpose of daily renaming a database?!?

We have a daily production refresh to non-prod boxes using app bcv process. But the problem is that the production database name and non-prod database name r same. Client needs non-prod database should be renamed after clod-refresh. We can do it manually in dry run, but client want a automation in this without manual intervention.

There is a tool named "DBNEWID" (nid program in Unix) that you can run in your script.

Hello -

Do you want to change the name of the instance, or the database, or the global_name, or the service name, or the TNS name people use to connect? Or all five?
There are different methods for each of these.

Rgds, John.
