Hi,

Can you please clear my confusion about "Oracle tablespace management", "extent management" and "segment space management".

I believe "tablespace management" internally means "extent management"--am i correct?
My understanding about tablespace management is - how the space is managed in the tablespace, it could be dictionary or local, I assume the same defination for extent management--both imply the same.

Is there any difference between tablespace management and extent management.

"Segment space management" is "block management" i.e. how the blocks are managed which deals with pctfree, pctused,
freelists and free list groups.

Thanks

Regads,
Pointers
