Dear Gurus

We are going to install Oracle RAC on windows server.I am just confused ,do we need RAID configuration on SAN storage? We have already done RAID 10 .But as i read the document,it was mentioned you need raw disks for ASM.

So RAID really doesnt require for Oracle RAC on windows?

Thanks

NEED?
REQUIRE?
no RAC can be implemented without ASM and/or RAID,
but you'd be wise to utilize one of them

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Sorry,Might my question wasn't clear enough.
We already have raid10 on SAN ,can we use those disks for ASM .

or Disks needs to be completely RAW (no raid) for ASM?

should we remove RAID for ASM?

Thankyou

You can do what ever you deem appropriate.

I think you have to first read concepts about ASM

If the disks are externally protected (as in case of SAN, striped and mirrored), you can just choose
'External Redundancy' while creating ASM diskgroups.
