Hi all. I was asked an somewhat open question and it occurrs to me that ORAFaq knows more than I about.

MY company is at the moment considering removal of I3 (cost savings thing). So the question has gone out:

Quote:
Are there signficant differences between I3 and Grid.

In light of the direction I interpret this to also mean "please justify I3 given the availability of OEM Grid".

For those of you with exposure to both I am sure you may have a reason or two why we should keep I3, or not. I would appreciate some commentary. Commentary that relates to tasks people would perform using these tools would be more helpful. For example: the DBA needs to tune a SQL statement, OEM Grid ... but I3... Or, I3 can direcly correlate performance to DISK IO by doing...

But please be express your thoughts in any way you like as whatever insight you can provide is much appreciated.
