If I change the "seconds between keepalives" to 600 (seconds), it changes only for that particular login. If I logout of the putty session and again login, the value becomes 0. In order to permanently change the "seconds between keepalives" value to 600, what should be done? I tried changing the TMOUT value in profile file, but I am not able to change it as it says "The file access permissions do not allow the specified action" and if i try to give chmod 777 profile, it says "chmod: profile: Operation not permitted."
What can be done to permanently change the value to 600?

I now know how to permanently change the settings of putty session. After we make the desired change (set timeout to 600), we can save the session by going to change settings. Thus the changes will be permanent.
