Dear All,

I hv created a database VAHAN with SID VAHAN , now I want to create another database in it with name SARATHI SID SARATHI.
VAHAN db is running perfectly but everytime i tried to create the db with dbca it shows error
"ORA-01034: ORACLE not avaiable."

I ran dbstart,lsnrctl start - getting same error
i dbshut the db and use startup nomount - getting same error

Any help is greatly appreciated..

check

echo $ORACLE_SID

if it is vahan then this not the solution

if not then issue export ORACLE_SID=vahan

and before creating db

give export ORACLE_SID= SARATHI

thanks for the reply...
echo $ORACLE_SID shows VAHAN
even then i did export $ORACLE_SID = SARATHI
and then try running dbca...
the same problem exists...
