If I open the Dump files in Wordpad or grep the dump file. Will this corrupt the dump file?

What abt the archive log files or RMAN backupsets, will it get corrupt, if I try to open it.

To be certain that you don't write to the file, and to strip out the un-printable characters, you can use a command such as this:

strings dumpfilename | more

Why do you want to open archived logs or RMAN backup files, above all in wordpad?

If you really want to then make a copy of the file and open it with an hexa-binary-editor not a text one.
