Hi evreybody,

A client is installed with a 8.1.7 version of Oracle and it can access and run with a db using an 10gxe version.
If I upgrade my client (10g or 11g), is there any improvement of performances in term of access to data?

Thx in advance for your replies.
Sak.

Probably not.
However you probably will have issues with your version of sqlplus not recognising valid syntax so you should upgrade to the correct version regardless.

You also have a better security level with a higher level of client.
8i can be easily hacked in our days, this is why 11g no more supports it.

By the way, I checked on Metalink, 10.2 (and so XE) does not support it either.
