Dear All,

When i want to connect inro database by Following:

# sqlplus /nolog
sql>conn / as sysdba

Insufficient privilege.


What are the reasons. Please help me.

You are not in the OS "dba" group.

I can connect sys as sysdba with password but sys / as sysdba cannot.

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES,EZCONNECT)

My conclusion is still you are not in the OS dba group.

My Linux user "oracle" whose id is
uid=500(oracle) gid=500(oinstall) group 500(oinstall),501(dba)

Although if i am not the OS DBA group then how i can Backup by rman

You can do it giving the password.

There are only 2 reasons you can't connect "/ as sysdba":
1/ You are not in the OS (sys)dba group
2/ SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES does not contain NTS

If you are sure you are in the OS dba group, then check you are actually using the sqlnet.ora you posted.

First, check if TNS_ADMIN variable is not set.
