Hi,

I have installed Oracle XE on my Windows 2003 Standard Edition OS. My USERS.DBF file is near 4GB, so I must delete a lot of unusable records to reduce users tablespace, and I would like to know, if I backup and recovery that Oracle XE database is it mean that files will be smaller and is there some backup and recovery method who will make an 'transportable' copy of whole database for a migrating to a new machine or easier archiving on another machine?

1) No, it will not be smaller
2) Any full backup allow you to restore/recover in another server.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for help. I found that if I rewrite data from one to another Oracle XE database all works fine and datafiles are more compacted than old files without deleted records.

So if it is not to big request I need simplest or some another script which will backup oracle xe database from c:\oraclexe to d:\orabackup into files which is represent transportable backup?

copy c:\oraclexe\* d:\orabackup
