Hi

got stuck in a problem...i want to create a new password file for my database but when i create new password file with the orapwd...i am not sure whether its takeing the new password file which i created OR its takeing the earlier one.......

please help in this....i want Database shuld take the password file which i create not the default....

its bit urgent...

If you don't trust Oracle it takes what you give it better leave Oracle and try to work for something else you can trust.

Can you tell me what is the purpose of writing multiple dots? Are you writing a telegram?
Please refrain this way of writing, use proper and plain english.

And note that nothing is urgent in a forum. You should better properly write your question with all relevant information.

m sorry,i only wanted to know that how can i verify that the database is opening with the password file which i created.

Hi,
I have created a database with 11gR2 on suse 11. I want to create a passwordfile to define password for sys and system. Can anyone confirm the steps for the same and suggest if any additional step is required:

1- shut down database
2-orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapwd password=password_for_sys
3- startup
4- use specified password

If I want to specify system password too, what wud be the steps?
