HI friends I am getting below error while tnsping from client

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC>tnsping xpcdev

Used parameter files:


Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.6.102)(PORT = 1524))) (C
xpcdev)))
TNS-12537: TNS:connection closed

on server side listener is up also I am able to tnsping without any error.

contents from sqlnet.ora

I am getting below error on listener log file

Please help me to fix this issue

I would delete the tnsnames entry, and type it in again. The output from tnsping looks as though you have some bad characters in the CONNECT_DATA section.

This is a fresh installation. After installation tns ping is not working from client. Where as on server side tnsping works and i am able to log in also.

tns entry looks correct. The tns entry is

(DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=192.168.6.102)(PORT=1524)) (CONNECT_DATA= (SID=xpcdev)))

same tns works fine on server side.

I'm confused.
What is OS name & version of DB Server?
What is OS name & version or remote client?

os of db server is centos 5.3 and db version is 9.2.0.5

I tried with two diferent clients
1. os centos 5.3 client 9.2.0.5
2. os windows xp client 10g

both the times i faced same error.

I installed oracle apps 11.5.10 on centos 5.3.

Does any Firewall exist between client & DB Server?

So deleting and re-typing the tnsnames entry made no difference? tnsping returned exactly the same result as before?
I would try again, this time removing all the white spaces and definitely do NOT use copy/paste.

Really your suggestion worked...

Same thing I copied last time from a mail received and now I copied from the server. Might be some junk character was there invisible.
