Let me know if its already an existing feature..

Today I have a requirement to find all my messages in a specific forum.
So I tried with search feature to search in that specific forum(reports) by member name "ramoradba".

As I don`t know(I forgot that actually) the keyword(a word in the message) or the title to search for it but I remember the attachment(image) and he users involved with that topic.

So My question is
1) Does an empty(or with '%') search provide all the messages posted by a user in given(as an input) forum ?

2) Is there any feature like attachment filter?

3) To find the members we can sort them by no of messages count!
similarly shall we sort our own posted messages by forum wise ?

Because I have posted more than 1600 messages in different multiple forums of this site.
some of them are in reports forum.
so if I have to find a post I have search on all pages until I got the correct page having the required question/post.

if the sort order implemented no need to search on all pages ,
Just sort the messages with required forum and search on it.

And If it has an attachment I can filter that with attachment filter implementation.

Thank you

sriram

Why "Search" does not help you to find the post with this question? Did you try it?

Put a better filter then you have not so much posts.
I have 20 times your number of posts and almost no problem to find one of mine containing an anwser.

Explain base on what this filter on attachment? name? size? type? content?

Regards
Michel

I would have thought a filter for the presence of an attachment would be all you need in most cases.
That would narrow the results sufficiently in 99% of cases.

Yes if its a text message then no problem we can do that ..But its a picture(attachment) I remember which was posted by me as an attachment.so ....it impossible and sorting is different issues here...
If sort the messages of mine so that I can the desired link more quickly is n`t it?

No it should check for the attachment only not with sub items like you stated.
(Or atleast as cookiemonster stated )

Expecting a reply from you and franknaude as well.

Thank you

Consider yourself a very lucky person. Imagine how many messages would Michel have to review (as opposed to your ~1700).

You can always use Google. For example, if I use Google to search for:

"www.orafaq.com" "reports & discoverer" ramoradba

then I get two results:

http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/152154/0/

http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/155855/0/

Did you both include both sets of double quotes as I did? I ran the search again and still get both links. Here is a link to the page with the links:

But I have posted more than 2 in the reports forum....
So these are not the correct keywords. to search for the rest right?

SO MY point is to have one more filter either at search level or
at user own posts forum wise sort order filter

Thank you

sriram

Of course; copy-pasted your line exactly.

Even more interesting: now I performed search again, followed the same procedure and got - two links.

/forum/fa/8140/0/

Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to preserve search results earlier today, but I remember that the only result I got this morning was the "Matrix report format" topic.

I guess that the fact that my first search was at work (through a proxy) and the second from home shouldn't make any difference.

Oh well, it must be me, probably.

An attachment filter would indeed be useful, but probably not useful enough to justify the time required to program it.
