Here are two examples: the first one is captured from one of Michel's recent posts:

/forum/fa/8103/0/

Another one is when we use regular expressions:

/forum/fa/8104/0/

I was thinking: perhaps it would be OK to remove those "smart tags" from all forums but, perhaps, Marketplace, Training & Certification and Community Hangout as people do post e-mail addresses or links to certain sites there.

Elsewhere, e-mail is (mostly) wrongly recognized because people post a connection string (username/password@database), and not an e-mail. I can't even imagine what URL has to do with regular expressions.

If it is not possible to distinguish forums, I'd rather NOT have smart tags at all. It's not that difficult to create them by my own, but to remove them ... huh, that's something different (difficult).

I think you'll find the regexp one happens because you do wiki links using [[]]:
e.g.
[ [test case] ]

becomes
test case if you remove the spaces.

One obvious thought is to change it to not apply smart tags to anything wrapped in code tags.

Makes sense.

Also, not every "@" represents an e-mail address. Maybe if it contains a slash (/) (between username and password), don't smart tag it.
