How to delete archive log automatically [message #458010]

Hi

I am using oracle 10g. Currently it is in No archive mode.
And I want to change the mode of my DB from no archive to archive.
But the problem is after changing this mode it will create logs and take too much disk space day by day.
Usually I want to keep three weeks of archive log.
So I would like to know what is the correct way and procedure to remove archive log and to keep only three weeks of it.

Does this mean that you'll be doing a FULL backup at least once every 3 weeks?

By backing it up?
Backup the archivelogs and delete them.
RMAN command

DELETE ARCHIVELOG UNTIL TIME ..

would help.
Please search google/documentation for the exact option.

Hi

Yes I want to take FULL backup at least once every 3 weeks.
Kindly provide me full detail about how to delete archive logs automatically using RMAN after every week or perodically.

If you only backup every 3 weeks you MUST NOT delete archived logs every week, you must keep them from at least the backup.

Details are in documentation, please read it first and then come back if you have any problem.

add "delete input" to your backup script and it will delete them after backup.
