How important is the archived log files? I accidentally deleted some of this files (old and current) at the OS level. Pls. help me on what to do next.

Your backups are now useless. You should backup immediately.

Although we had a backup since 4pm yesterday (May 25, 2010), those I deleted were months of April and May, 2010 and the current log file, re: May 26, 2010.

If this means what it says, it is a disaster: you will lose data. What state is your database in?
If it is open, you did NOT delete all copies of your current logfile. Perform a full backup immediately, and you will be OK.
If the instance terminated, and on startup stops in mount mode, then your current logfile was indeed deleted, and you must perform an incomplete recovery. You will lose data, and will have to face the consequences as defined in your service level agreement.

Currently the db is up. I just performed an export of all tables with parameter of CONSISTENT=y... while our SysAdm perform restoration of the deleted archive logfiles (OS level).

What I mean was that I accidentally deleted a .dbf files in this directory: /u1archive/tram/tramarch (path for the archived log files consisting of *.dbf files)... so far there is nothing alarming errors posted in the alertlog.

If your .dbf files are archived logs, there is nothing alarming at all... until you have to recover the database as archived logs are only used for this.
This is why the advice was "You should backup immediately".
