I'm the editor for SearchOracle.com, and am doing a story about Oracle's unlimited license agreements (ULAs) based off a recent Forrester report on the topic: www.forrester.com/go?docid=56907
If there is anyone here that has or has had a ULA with Oracle and can talk about the benefits and/or problems with them, please let me know at mfontecchio@techtarget.com. Thanks!

Hi Mark,
A ULA gives you the right to use whatever you like, even software that you don't really really need. The problem is that when usage is audited, you will have to start paying for everything in-use. Yes, it's much easier to manage, but unless you have unlimited funds, only Oracle will in the long run benefit from it. If Oracle wasn't so ridiculously expensive in comparison to other database vendors it would have made better business sense. Be very careful!
Best regards.
Frank

Well isn't it always like that no matter ULA.
Licensing is a nightmare, even developers have to be aware of what tools they are allowed to use. Have seen a lot of system using partitioning, bitmap index, materialized views, AWR etc. not aware of the extra licenses.
Then every now and then, Oracle want to run their review scripts, oops , $$ $$
