Hello,

On last week i was trying to restore database (9i). It was taking 6-7 days to restore 400g database.

Please advice me why it was taking long time to restore entire database? There are 7 channel i allocated but still taking 6-7 days. Is there any way to increase restore performance?

Overallocating the channels could actually make it worse.
What is rationale behind your 7 Channel allocation?
As usual, it depends on factors.
Where are you restoring from? Local disk/tape or from remote disk?
Restore and recover or just restore?
How many datafiles?
32 bit or 64bit?
Large pool size?
How long did it take to backup?

Disk

Accidentally large pool size was 0 & sga_max_size 1g

Full backup taken 3:30hrs

In URL already specified,
There should be a couple of views that oracle recommends to check to identify the bottlenecks.
Also check in alert.log for any specific memory related errors.
As you already know, applying archive logs could take some time.
May be the restore process is just stuck somewhere.
Can you afford to startover?
I have seen similar issues with SAN mounted disks and issue was related to san buffers. May be not in your case.
Also Metalink has a many writeups on "slow rman" and most of them are bugs.

Thanks Mahesh,

Yes as per your link am going to test again restore performance.

In alert log i did not not found any issues. Even after a week restore/recover done

Also i am checking some metalink doc & update you soon once i got.
