I need to copy a database from one server (Prod) to another (Test).

Both the servers have same directory structure, same operating system and both same Oracle versions 10.2.0.4.

And ofcourse, the Prod is on Archive Log mode, but i don't want the Test instance on Archive Log Mode.

Whats the best method to do it?

Export and Import?

Hot backup and restore?

Cold Backup and restore?

Please suggest me, and if possible and if you have time, please reply back the steps to copy.

Thanks,
Munna

Best based upon which metric?

Above will work.

Do the one you are most capable to achieve success.

To add,
it depends on volume of data.

Best method based upon NOT affecting any users or any transactions by the users.

The database size is 20GB.

Above eliminates cold backup.

>The database size is 20GB
I'd say the size rules out export/import

Therefore you are left with hot backup & restore.
