Nothing special, really. Just, having a cup of coffee and thinking about sharing my thoughts.
Lately (for the last few days), OraFAQ Forum seems to be a place much more user friendly than before. Thank you, everyone, who made that effort!
A rhetorical question: do you use the ignore list feature? I don't, I like to know what the enemy is doing. However, it appears that people don't pay much attention to what's already being said in that particular thread. I guess that there's nothing wrong in repeating the same information all over again, but - it appears that some of you are ignoring some other of you, as there are answers posted one after another, NOT at the same time (more or less), repeating the same information (more or less). It shows that people agree on that, so - can't be better. Eh?
It reminds me of the fact that, in Oracle, readers don't block writers and vice versa. On OraFAQ Forum, readers don't read writers and vice versa. Sometimes.
OK, back to work.

I don't use the ignore list. I haven't noticed any change one way or the other in the forums, but I am way behind in my reading and have been just quickly browsing, without reading thoroughly, trying to get caught up. I don't use the ignore list because, as others have pointed out, it can cause a loss of continuity in the thread and duplicate answers, and I like to know what is going on, especially as a moderator. However, for some of you, it may be better to ignore than to read and respond.

I read the entire thread, and wanted to share my thought.
With good features comes advantages and disadvantages, depending on the situation.
Ignore list could help us to ignore when a user is proved to be a troll, else, as Barbara pointed, it could make us lose the continuity.
I have been around this forum quite a bit long, not as much as you folks, and I have observed that few posters are genuinely dumb and not real trolls. Even if he is ignored, some or the other person might help. And we can't be sure whether the helping person is really helping with his knowledge/skillset. We do come across various levels of posters, some thank us, some get rude and never come back.
As the saying goes, "first impression is a lasting impression, but not the last". Many/few/some do come back genuinely, and when they do so, we might be ignoring them based on their first impression.
