Why you want to use SYS ?
Is there any specific reason for that....?
We should not use sys user for normal purpose.

So you want sysdba to be granted in order to create the table based on another ?
Thats not proper....

Ask your dba to grant required privileges. So that he can assign.
Can you share why you want to connect as sys with report builder?

sriram.

Good luck for your Oracle support.
Dont try this(hope you done at test DB or your own DB installed on your PC) kind of things in production database.

Sys is only for Oracle Not for you test or play.

Just to re-enforce what Sriram said

Michel Cadot wrote

- Never ever use sys (or sysDBA) but for maintenance purpose (startup, shutdown, backup, recover)
- sys/sysDBA is special
- sys/sysDBA is Oracle proprietary (try to open a SR/TAR starting with "i did that with sys/sysDBA" and you'll see the immediate answer)
- sys/sysDBA does not act like any other user
- When you use sys/sysDBA Oracle deactivates some code path and activates others
- Whatever you do with sys/sysDBA will neither validate nor invalidate the same thing with any other user.

NEVER EVER use sys/sysDBA for anything that can be done by another user.
Use sys/sysDBA ONLY for something that can't be done by someone else.
