Hello there,
New to all this.
I have been asked to research if the following configurations would work:
Move a Oracle DB (running 8.0.x on Windows Server 2000) to one of the two platforms. The reason behind this is hardware support.
Known:
Database is used for back-end app server, as data is updated/changed often.
User base is about 100+/- users, not counting app connections.
Databases are running at about 200-250GB
Database requires to run under the Windows 2000 Server environment.
1. New Hardware build with Windows Server 2000 with RAID 10 setup. For the New build would the RAID 10 or the RAID 5 be the preferred level of RAID protection.
2. Placed on a ESX 3.x VM server with the Guest running the Windows Server 2000, with the data running on a RAID5 set.
a) is 8.0.5 supported running in a Virtual Machine, if it is what is the optimal configuration for storage. The initial test server that was created seems to really hog resources on the VM.
Any thoughts on this would be great.
Adam
