hi iam having two instances where orcl and orcl1 available in oracle 10g,windows xp.now orcl is causing some problems and is not working with exception "oracle initialisation or shutdown in progress".now i dont want that instance as i can able to do operations with orcl1.how can i remove the instance orcl which is causing problems for me.suggest me please

set your ORACLE_SID.
Login as sys.
Shutdown.
If required remove all the associated datafiles/controlfiles/logfiles etc.
