Hi,

In 9i,if redo logfile or control file is lost database shuts down.But in 10g it doesn't(shutdown) happen .why?

Please expalin the reason.

It happens the same way.
If you have some proof of the opposite then post them.

To be fair, I question the statement that a 9i database will automatically shut down if a redo logfile or control file is lost.

It won't be working, but I don't believe it will automatically perform a shutdown.

Well, it does not perform a shutdown, it aborts/crashes as soon as it realizes one of these is missing.
