Yes, it is possible.

From the data point of view, it is easy using SQL Developer, see SQL Developer Supplementary Information for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server Migrations

From the application point of view, locking and transaction management are very different in both databases, so you have to also migrate the code, that is rewrite some parts.

I have been involved with hundreds of SQL Server to Oracle Migrations. The free Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench mentioned on the previous posting does a very good job. It migrates the SQL Server database objects (tables, views, triggers, stored procedures etc.) to an Oracle database, as well as migrating the data. As far as the application is concerned, this is usually as trivial as changing the ODBC and JDBC drivers and changing some of the non-ANSI standard SQL in the application.

Oracle SQL Developer Migration workbench supports 7, 2000, and 2005. Does not matter what operating system the SQL Server database is on. SQL Developer needs to reside on a Windows box. The version of Oracle and OS it is on does not matter either.

What you can use is an ETL tool. There are open source tools available for free.

Talend Open Studio is an open source ETL tool for data integration and migration experts. It's easy to learn for a non-technical user. What distinguishes Talend, when it comes to business users, is the tMap component. It allows the user to get a graphical and functional view of integration processes.

Never heard of this tool. Pretty much any ETL tool (Oracle Data Integrator, Informitca, Pervasive etc.) can be used for SQL Server to Oracle migrations. However, even the lowest cost ones are two expensive for a one time data migration. Unless you will be doing on going replication between the two databases a free tool like Oracle SQL Developer SQL Server Migration Workbench does the job. Plus, it does the stored procedures, triggers, views etc. that ETL tools do not touch.

You are right. If you are using the tool only once, it needs to be unexpensive / free. Talend is free to download and use. Source is open. And you might want to keep using the tool after the migration as its an interesting ETL.

I think u should use a third party help to resolve this problem, i use dbload to solve it when i was migrated my data, it can migrate almost any data, it helps me to convert MSSQL to MYSQL, MS access to MSSQL, mysql, csv loader, foxpro and MSSQL to MS access, MYSQl, CSV, foxpro etc. i found it on google search.
