we are looking to install the 11g database but want to find a local company that can support us through the process, but also give us guidence.

As for being local, within a driveable distance would be good.

You have a thing against hiring consultatnts? It's perfectly normal to hire some external person to do some ad-hoc work.
Not every company has a dedicated and skilled DBA (or developer), nor does every company want to go through the hassle of trying to do a "let's-see-if-we-can-do-this-ourselves" database installation, so they seek help from people who know what they do. It is called professionalism.

Just my 2 cents.
