Job Title: Senior DBA (L3 level)
Expereince: 6-9 Years
Skills Required: Oracle8i/9i/10g, OEM tools, Oracle RAC
Location: Bangalore
Note: Candidates should have relevant 5/6 years expereince in Oracle.
Job Description:
Knowledge/Expereince Required:
• In depth and broad experience as a DBA supporting SQL Server and Oracle systems in a large distributed computer environment.
• Ability to resolve detailed technical problems and deal with non-standard requests
• Detailed understanding of a broad range of relevant technologies
• Ability to lead the development of infrastructure I.T. solutions
• Ability to work as part of a team, taking ownership of issues, being self motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
• The ability to adapt/prioritise their own workload to meet changing requirements/timescales whilst maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
• Ability to coach and pass on relevant I.T. knowledge to others.
• Required to provide out of hours support as part of a formal standby rota and also be available to cover other scheduled out of hours work (Projects & Lights-on).
• Expected to be available to work at other AXA Tech sites for periods of time (as agreed).
• Ability to make (present when necessary) technical recommendations based on analysis
• Detailed working knowledge of SQL Server 7, 2000 & 2005, including clustering.
• Detailed working knowledge of Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g, including tools and utilities.
• Detailed working knowledge of OEM tools and utilities.
• Desirable - a detailed working knowledge of ORACLE RAC environments (Implementation & Support).
Responsibilities:
• Carry out project work, and provide third tier support activities in accordance with agreed service levels.
• Plan, Co-ordinate and carry out physical database design.
• Implement and manage new database technologies, architectures and strategies.
• Plan, design, implement and maintain housekeeping routines to ensure database functionality and availability.
• Ensure the Database team meet full compliance for FAST, SOX, Security and any other regulatory requirements.
• Optimise database performance by, analysing performance information and carrying out tuning activities as required.
• Create and maintain database standards.
• Identify and evaluate emerging database technologies that will lead to a reduction in costs or an improvement in service.
• Ability to resolve detailed technical problems and deal with non-standard requests
• Proactively identify and implement improvements to the way in which databases achieve or improve upon associated service level targets and meet business requirements.
• Proactive liaison with third party suppliers with regard to external software incident and problem resolution.
• Provide support for the Contingency team in carrying out contingency tests.
• Provide database consultancy to both AXA Tech infrastructure projects and business projects.
• Deputise for the Database Team Leader when required to do so.
• Be available for on-call support in accordance with set rota.
• Production of clear and accurate database installation and maintenance documentation in support of lights on and project activity.
• Provide input to the database Technical Specialists and global colleagues.
• Perform the technical lead or lead technician role when in agreement to do so.
