Hi,

No one seems to remember the password for the sys or system user password for one of the databases.

Can you please let me know if there is any way to reset the password without touching the password file?

TIA

Forgot to mention that I am not able to login to the database as of now.

I have all the required privileges. Still when I try to login as ' / as sysdba' i get the error 'insufficient privileges

Is ORACLE_SID set in your environment?
Do you have access to any other DBA account?

figured it out with the help of an old entry in ORAFAQ.

Needed to simply put in NTS in the sqlnet.ora instead of NONE.

Thank you for your help!
