Hi,

Need one small clarification please.

I was dropping a column form a very large table. The transaction exited with an ORA-30036 : unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDO1'.

When i give the command to drop the column again, does oracle start from where it stopped?
My basics tell me that this transaction has been rolled back and the activity will start again.

Hope I am right!

Pls let me know.

Cheers!
KV

DDL are made of one, several or many small transactions.
Where Oracle restarts is not really known and not documented.
Theorically it should restart from from the beginning, in reality you have to raise a SR and ask Oracle support.
