backups of read-only tablespaces ? [message #401912] Wed, 06 May 2009 23:29 Go to next message

I read in the doc 'Oracle® Database Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2)'
that for a read-only tablespace, we need to only backup this tablespace.

But when I was reading some OUI student guide, I found that all tablespace datafiles, including the read-only ones should be backed up.

So I am confused, which is the correct method for read-only tablespace backups ?

When the tablespace is read-only you only need to backup it ONCE because as it is read-only it does not change.

ALWAYS quote (copy and paste) what you read and if it exists post a link to it otherwise give a PRECISE location not just the title of hundreds pages book. Your first quote is wrong.

When you are quoting docs,
please post the exact URL or exact content of documentation
instead of explaining the documentation in your words.
