is there a way to simulate a redo-log or datafile failure in windows ?
I was trying to delete the file manually but it errors out saying :
'This process cannot access the file because its currently in use by another process'.
Any workarounds to this ?

No.
I think you didnt get my question.
Also its oracle 9i on windows XP / 2000

When I try to delete the actual redo file in windows it says :
using command :
prompt> delete c:/oracle/redo01.log
'This process cannot access the file because its currently in use by another process'.
So my question is how this can be done in windows if another process (here oracle) is using it. ??
