Hi,
I have to license the Oracle Database
to Host node with 4 processor dual core.
My questions:
a)What database version? Enterprise or Standard?
b) What mode? Processor ou Named User?
Thanks,
Marcos Santos

And I have other host with 2 processor (dual core),
1 Gb de ram, AMD Processor x86_64. In this case:
a) Standard Edition?
b) Named User?
I have other question:
Named User lisence is system's user or
database's user?

> For multi-core processors there is now a 'socket' mode of licensing.
I would like to know more about socket licensing.
Can you explain, please?
I have one database server of development, 2 processor
dual core, on Blade System. This is a virtual machine.
And I have a database server, on zVM/zLinux, 2 IFL processor.
Thanks,

Searching www.oracle.com for 'socket licensing' returned, among others, http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/cloud-licensing.pdf (a 2008 document) containing "When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard Edition in the product name, the pricing is based on the size of the EC2 instances. EC2 instances with 4 or less virtual cores are counted as 1 socket, which is considered equivalent to a processor license. For EC2 instances with more than 4 virtual cores, every 4 virtual cores used (rounded up to the closest multiple of 4) equate to a licensing requirement of 1 socket."
