>>restore backup for anoher database into newly created database.
Not sure what exactly it means.
Assuming the "new database" is just an empty database (without any custom schema/objects),
You can just restore the backup.
Everything in "new Database" is wiped out.
If you want to retain something from "new database" then export the schema before restore and import back.

Search the forum for "cold restore" or "Consistent backup".
All you need to do is,
recreate controlfile from traced controlfile, recreate the path and place the datafiles and you can just mount it.

perhaps you could use RMAN to duplicate the existing database.

Because, it is still a perfect alternative.Smile
Also will be an RMAN cold restore into another node.

Also. He can create one more new database using DBCA.

Here Rman or Export and import is not require for dummy database.

It's dummy database. Why need to use Rman

Correct me; If any thing wrong. Razz

>>It's dummy database. Why need to use Rman
That's right. The target database (where the backup should be restored) is a dummy database.
The OP is looking to refresh this DUMMY database with the backup of "another database".
It can be done with any method , with or without RMAN.

>>Here Rman or Export and import is not require for dummy database.

I already addressed it.
Quoting myself:
>>If you want to retain something from "new database" then export the schema before restore and import back.
The OP has not yet responded. We assume it is "dummy database".
The above statement is valid ***if*** there is something to be retained from "new database".
