How to I create a nested matrix (grouped column) report in oracle report builder? [message #389033] Fri, 27 February 2009 01:37 Go to next message

Hi,

Im having some (well huge!) problem regarding matrix report. My matrix is basically a nested one, but instead of having multiple levels in the row part, i have to have multiple levels in column part. (Please see attached/below file for clearer image of what i want to have).

By the way I'm using Oracle Report Builder (10g). I followed the instructions in chapter 26 of Oracle® Reports Building Reports
10g Release 2 (10.1.2) document.

Any suggestions will be very welcome. Thanks!

OK,
pretty post.
what is the question.
What do you desire as a response?

Could you, please, post screenshot of the Data Model Editor?

Basically this is what my data model looked like:

I just want to know how do I design the layout (or is there something wrong with my data model?) so that the report will look like the 1st figure i posted.

Currently, my report looked like the second one.. i have perfectly grouped the columns but having trouble with the cell value.. it's not printing horizontally but downwards.. i have tried to play with the print direction property of the cell's repeating frame but it didn't solve my problem Sad

Huh, that's what I was going to suggest - adjust repeating frame's "Print direction" property to "Across".

What is repeating frame's elasticity property set to? Is any of them "Fixed" or "Contract"? If so, try to set it to "Expand" (or "Variable").

I did that already but also no success. I tried to make a simple matrix - no column grouping - and it worked successfully. So I was thinking, is it really possible to group/nest the columns in a matrix? or that would only be applicable in rows, as discussed in the document?
