Hi, All
I recently installed oracle 10g in my laptop and i am facing following problems if any one can help me:
1) when i want to shutdown the database from browser its show wrong password, i already create administrator account with the password which have ora_dba role also using sys user with sysdba
my and system has static ip.
2) when i try to shutdown from sqlpluw/sqlplu both not responding .
except above all running normal.
i will be thank full if any one can help me in this regard.

Looks like you'v shut the database down "normally".
Issue a "shutdown immediate" instead ... if it's really bad then "shutdown abort" will do it.
Dont abort the instance unless you really need to tho.

"SHUTDOWN: waiting for logins to complete."
This is slightly different from the messages I am used to seeing in a Unix environment ...
But it means the same ... Oracle is still waiting for active sessions to complete.

Thanks for all who give advise about shutdowm immediate
yes
it works in sqlplusw session but whenever i tried through browser it display error : worng operating system users's password.
and whenever i try to shutdown normal through sqlpusw the session hang and not responding.
