Hello,
Oracle 10g xe,apex 3.1.1 installed and also oracle 10g client installed. Is it possible to take backup (.dmp) from client. Kindly guide.

Should be.
Did you try?
Did it fail?
Also, exported dumps are not real backups. They are just a way to move the data around. Handy it is, but not a real backup.

hi,
On the server side dmp is usually taken from command prompt, if i am right. The same is not possible from client. what should i do to create dmp from client ie. access command prompt from client. thanks in advance.

Why not? Does your client computer have a command prompt? I believe that it should have. Did you install Export utility? I suppose you should have (if you plan to export the database).

So, command prompt + installed Export utility = a winning combination.

What prevents you to run it?
