Hello,

I would like to know what may be the consequences of changing the default location of the flash recovery area (oracle_base/flash_recovery_area) to a customed one.

What I mean is, if I alter my spfile and change the default location of the parameter db_recovery_file_dest to another location on another hard disk, how will the use of use_db_recovery_flash_dest expression with some parameters such as log_archive_dest be affected?

Will the expression use_db_recovery_flash_dest still refer to the location of my recovery area? Will there be problems during archiving,backup and or recovery?

No worries changing the location. The USE_DB_RECOVERY_FLASH_DEST will point to the new location.

Just feedback. It works. I issued a 
alter system checkpoint
and the archive was created in the new location. I also performed a backup of my whole database using rman and all the backed up files where created in the destination I specified.

Obviously, if I was absolutely sure I would get the results I mentionned earlier, I wouldn't have opened this topic in the first place.Anyway, I just wanted to give Ebrian a feedback of what he suggested me to do.
