Dear sir,

we need to resize our datafile to 3gb, where total size is: 21gb, and free size is: 20.5gb (used space is: 500 mb ).

but when we tried to resize this datafile to 3gb,it is giving error

ORA-03297;file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value.

Pls adv.

If there is any sql query to find out the margin,please provide the same.

Try to MOVE/REBUILD objects (see ALTER TABLE and ALTER INDEX statements).
Otherwise export, drop the objects and reimport.
