hi,
i'm new to oracle db administration, i tried to changed the log_archive_dest parameter on my oracle database the next time i tried to bang my instance this is the error i got
ORA-32004: obsolete and/or deprecated parameter(s) specified
ORA-16032: parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST destination string cannot be translated
ORA-07286: sksagdi: cannot obtain device information.
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory

please help!

The 2 are not related.
Post the actual related part of alert.log.

By the way, read LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST and precise your Oracle edition.
Also tell us how you "tried to changed the log_archive_dest parameter".

alter system set log_archive_dest='location=/u02/archive/rman' SCOPE=SPFILE;

hi in which version of oracle you are setting this parameter? also the location you specified is not available it seems. can you post your steps.
