Hi Experts,
I can tune the queries to avoid cpu usage during peak hours.
Is there anything done to avoid cpu hitting 100% during backup hours.
Is it normal if cpu hit 100% during backup time.
Regards,
Varun Punj,

What kind of backup?
Where are you backing up to?

Thanks for reply Mahesh
I am taking RMAN full backups running for two instances.
I am compressing the backups and the storing on the disk at
database server itself.

Compression is usually CPU intensive. Check the docs.
Based on your hardware resources, toggle around parallel options.

Hi Mahesh,
I dont have enough space to keep the bacups as uncompressed.
Should I go for more CPU or it is normal for server to hit 100%
during backups.

Disk is way cheaper than CPU.
>>it is normal for server to hit 100%
May be. May not be. None can confirm without known the hardware
configuration, your rman configuration and much analysis.
