I have a disk which has slice from s0 to s7 in solaris x86. I am trying to use s3 and s4 as a disk group with normal redundancy level and s5 and s7 as the second disk with the same redundancy for storage in oracle. the first disk group was successful while the second wasn't because it is showing slice 5 as candidate and s7 as foreign.
I tried to see what will happen if i make s5 and s7 as a disk group and then i got an error sayin that s7 has a valid rdms files in it.
I was thinking that if i could remove these files, s7 will be useful again.
I have had an aborted oracle installation before, and i am assuming that probably i have had some datafiles or controlfiles which i don't need anymore in this s7.
