Hi
I am upgrading my database 9.2.0.4 to 10.2.0. After running the database upgrade assistance when i am trying to connect to my database its giving error as: ORA-12560: TNS:protocall adapter error.
THe most surprising is i have only 1 directory db_1 in my oraclehome. In this directory i have bin,RDBMS,demo, install etc directories. But there is no dbs, network etc directories.
Can some one guide me ? Have i lost my database? Can I troubleshoot or else how can i recover my old database?
Please help soon.

Well, the first step of any valid upgrade procedure is to do a backup, so I guess you haven't lost anything, just restore the backup.
Also, note that you need to install Oracle 10g in a separate directory before attempting an upgrade. And, if this install doesn't have "dbs" and "network" directories, the install didn't work!
Best of luck with that restore!

What does this mean? You just change the home name but not the home directory? You can't mix up 2 versions in the same directory.

Hi
i am having some issues. While running DBUA I found few errors as:
Quote: |
1. The default privileges, previously assigned with the connect role will only have the create session privilege. to provide more privileges, you must manually assign the required privileges to the user/role.
2. The following components cannot be upgraded as the corresponding upgrade scripts are missing:
Oracle ultra Search(E;\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\ultrasearch\admin\wkdbmig.sql)
3. DBUA has detected the JAccelerator(NCOMP)is not installed.
|
Can any one help me in below questions:
How will these effect my new DB?
How can I solve the issues? (Either before upgrade or after upgrade)
Thanks & Regards
Ridhi

Please grant all the missing privileges manually to the user
after upgrading.

You can ignore these two error messages.

Thanks Varun. So you mean these errors will not effect my DB. Can I trouble shoot these by any manor? I was doing it in my test environment. Can I avoid these errors by any means while doing it in my production?
Thanks & Regards
