Unable to logon to SQL*Plus for Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition, Release 2.
I am getting the following error:

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

Per various documentation, these are the passwords I used.

User Name: change_on_install
Password: manager
Host String: oracle

Tried both upper and lower case.
Searched Oracle's intranet to no avail.
Re-installed numerous times.

Am I missing a step, or has the password changed
at some point?

login/pass default combinations :
internal/oracle
sys/change_on_install
system/manager

you are using : change_on_install/manager ...
if you're connecting to the local database you don't need host name (unless you want to go trough Net8)
